Young people from the age of nine are invited to join us at the workshop entitled Making a mini zoetrope, which will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 between 4 and 7 pm in the Miran Jarc Library (BeRi classroom).
Bringing up thumbnails with a used CD player: Zoetrope is a device that creates the illusion of animation by illuminating consecutive thumbnails that rotate in a circle for a split second, and repeats this in an endless loop. It was invented in the 19th century, and we will recreate it from the parts available to us in the 21st century.
The device will be made from a used mechanism of a CD or DVD player, an Arduino microcontroller, a high-brightness white LED light, and some auxiliary elements. Among other things, we will get to know the “brushless” drive motor and write a program that will precisely synchronize the flashing of the LED and the rotation of the motor. The most fun, of course, will be creating and playing with loop animations.
Applications
The number of participants is limited, so prior registration is required at borut.pelko@lokalpatriot.si.
The workshop is free.
