Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity 2023: Honorary Mention goes to konS ≡ PARK — Academy for Contemporary Investigative Art

In addition to the four Golden Nicas of Prix Ars Electronica 2023, the Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity, initiated by the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, were awarded for the third time as part of Prix Ars Electronica. Every submission to the Prix Ars Electronica and the STARTS Prize competition could also be entered for consideration to the Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity.

In the Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity, konS ≡ PARK – Academy for Contemporary Investigative Art received an honorary mention. The award is open to projects that demonstrate the power of cultural exchange and collaboration for the development of a human-centred digital world. “In addition to its highly convincing quality and originality, konS-PARK is a wonderful example of how diversely the concept of “Digital Humanity” can be interpreted. (…) konS-PARK is a concrete offer for the Slovenian education system, focusing on young people and providing space for original, unexpected, unusual, and inspiring perspectives on the present and a possible future (…)” stated the jury.

Robotics, biotechnology, AI applications – the rapid scientific-technological progress shapes our personal everyday life, our society and the global ecosystem. konS≡PARK – Academy for Contemporary Investigative Art focuses on these dynamics and brings together engineers, scientists and artists to develop common perspectives on the present and a possible future. konS≡PARK, a network of “creative hubs” in Slovenia (Ljubljana, Velenje, Nova Gorica, Novo mesto, Maribor) addresses a broad, interested public – especially the young generation – and seeks new ideas for an inclusive and sustainable use of technical tools. The aim is not to develop the perfect solution, but rather to try things out and experiment for oneself. Complex tasks are approached with playful curiosity in order to arrive at innovative approaches in the next step.
