STARTS Prize ’21: ‘Hybrid Systems’

As part of the new edition of the STARTS award from 3 December to 9 January, Bozar is hosting sustainable projects that promote social, ecological and economic innovation through collaboration between art and new technologies.
Each year, the STARTS Award rewards innovative projects at the crossroads of science, technology and the arts that address the social, ecological and economic challenges of modern European society. This year’s edition of the STARTS Awards in Bozar will focus on speculative design in the field of discarded food and biological design, conservation of natural species, climate change and data pollution, and new connections between people and technology. This is an area in which Slovenian artists have long excelled, so the exhibition dedicated to the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union has a special place. A special part is dedicated to Slovenia, as it holds the presidency of the European Union (Focus on Slovenia, https://www.bozar.be/en/calendar/focus-slovenia), this part of the exhibition is called ‘Hybrid Systems’ and was curated by Jurij Krpana, and the Biobot project is also on display in this area. Laboratory situation (Zoran Srdić Janežič), which was developed under the auspices of the konS platform and also presented at the module in Maribor, 2020.
