The guest of the fourth meeting of (re) programming series is 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗯 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝗻.

Anab Jain’s “Mitigation of Shock” shifts us into the future. The evolving installation that was conceived by studio Superflux, envisages two random housings, one in London in 2050 and the other in Singapore in 2219, which by this time becomes a flooded city. Both apartments are equipped with a range of modifications on the DIY principle: hydroponic media and other tools for collecting and storing food and water in the new climate systems. While their technical solutions are fascinating (and actually work), the vision prevails: we have survived; moreover, we’ve adapted to thrive and thus have become smarter, stronger, in better shape, and better acquainted with other members of planetary society. We tell stories, but these could be better.

Anab Jain is a designer, artist and filmmaker. She is the co-founder and director of London-based speculative design studio Superflux, which explores the cross-section of the climate crisis, technology and politics beyond man. Together with her partner Jon Ardern, she has been creating critically acclaimed films, artwork and installations foreseeing future for humanity. She also teaches in the Design Investigations program at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Anab has worked for some of the world’s largest companies such as Microsoft Research, Sony, Samsung and Nokia, and institutions such as the Government of the United Arab Emirates, Innovate UK, the UK Cabinet Office, the UN Development Program, Future Cities Catapult and the Forum for the Future. Her work has been exhibited at Momi in New York, the China National Museum and the V&A in London. She has received several awards – Apple Computers Inc., UNESCO, the Geneva Human Rights Festival and TED.
