Minister Asta Vrečko on the konSekvence

The Minister of Culture, Dr Asta Vrečko, was the guest of honour at the opening of the main exhibition of the konSekvence ≡ Fragments of a Possible Ecosystem programme at the Cukrarna Gallery. She opened and visited with the Ministry of Culture staff “a really excellent exhibition, which provides an insight into the many years of activity of the konS ≡ Platform for Contemporary Investigative Art,” and summarised her impressions:

“The exciting world of exploratory art is emerging at the intersection of art, science and technology. In a world that is increasingly complex and interconnected, the methodological approach of so-called art thinking is more important than ever. It challenges our assumptions, encourages us to embrace the unknown, risk mistakes and see failures as opportunities for growth and learning. As we face the complex challenges of our time, such as climate change, economic inequality and social injustice, we need innovative and creative solutions that emerge at the intersection of different disciplines and with cross-departmental support. Artists are already today announcing ideas of possible futures, ideas of possible development. They are approaching the challenges of the future in creative ways, questioning dominant narratives and reminding us that we are part of a larger ecosystem and that our choices have consequences – for ourselves, for other living beings, for the planet. Art will play a key role in shaping the societies of the future to make them more just and resilient to the many challenges they face.”

She concluded with an encouraging note: “At the Ministry of Culture, we are proud of the project, which has, among other things, brought together a wide network of partners and participants.

Congratulations to all!”
